Hi, I’m Chef Reza.
Persian food is more than just a meal — it’s a story, a memory, and a celebration. I’ve eaten Persian food all my life, from family dinners to street food in Tehran, and I want to share with you some of the dishes that truly represent the best of our culture.
If you’re new to Persian food, or just looking to discover something new, here are my personal top picks:
1. Kabab Koobideh – The Soul of Persian BBQ
This is my comfort food. Ground meat mixed with onions and spices, grilled over open fire. Simple, juicy, and full of flavor. Serve it with saffron rice and grilled tomato — perfection.
2. Ghormeh Sabzi – The National Stew
Ask any Persian, and they’ll tell you: this is a taste of home. A mix of herbs, kidney beans, dried lime, and tender beef or lamb. It’s slow-cooked and served with rice. Deep, green, and rich in flavor.
3. Fesenjoon – Sweet & Sour Dream
This one is special. Ground walnuts cooked with pomegranate paste and chicken or duck. It’s sweet, tangy, and nutty all at once. A dish for when you want something truly unique.
4. Tahdig – The Golden Treasure
Ah, tahdig — the crispy rice from the bottom of the pot. It’s not a dish on its own, but every Persian meal feels incomplete without it. We fight over it at the table (nicely, of course).
5. Zereshk Polo – Tart Meets Tender
Barberry rice with saffron, served with chicken. The berries are tart and bright, the rice is golden, and the chicken is tender. It’s often served at weddings and parties — and for good reason.
6. Ash Reshteh – The Persian Soup of Love
A thick noodle and herb soup with beans, garlic, and a topping of fried onions, mint, and yogurt (kashk). It’s warm, earthy, and full of heart.
Why I Love Persian Food
To me, Persian food is all about balance — of sweet and sour, soft and crispy, fresh and cooked. It brings people together. It tells stories. And it always reminds me where I come from.
Whether you’re sitting down to a family meal or trying something new at a restaurant, I hope you give these dishes a try. You might just fall in love — the way I did.
I would like to add that you can taste all these in our different locations. In our Richmond Hill Location we only serve Kebab and in our Thornhill Location we also serve some top-notch stews that take you back to home.
